Once upon a planetoid, Cinderella loved fixing fancy rockets with her tools (galactic googles, antimatter hammer and a sonic socket wrench). At night she reads about ship repairs. When her wicked stepmom and stepsisters are invited to the Prince’s Royal Space Parade, they leave her behind with a broken spaceship. Luckily, with the help of fairy godrobot, she makes it to the Gravity-free ball. When the prince’s ship needs some repairs, someone will fly to his rescue.

In this witty STEM-focused retelling, we have an independent hero who can solve problems, navigate family dynamics and make her own destiny. In fact, when the prince asks her to marry him, she agrees to become his chief mechanic instead. There’s no damsel-in-distress here.

This book is recommended for kids 4-5.
