Eleven-year-old Charlie Reese wishes every day for the same wish, but it doesn’t seem to be coming true. She’s sent to live with an aunt and uncle she hardly knows in the middle of nowhere, and she doesn’t feel like she belongs anywhere.

In time, with the help of a neighbor named Howard and a stray dog named Wishbone, she learns that maybe wishes do come true.
