September 2019: Heroes & Risktakers

We love some good inspiration. This month we’re taking a closer look at everyday - and exceptional - heroes. Fictional and real-life characters who encourage us to be better and think bigger.

Readers will play football with learn about Amelia Earhart, police officers, the first African American woman in space, 11-year-old making a difference in her classroom and a three-year-old with very aggressive hair.

We channel our inspiration into…

  • Making lava lamps

  • Baking cookies for our local heroes

  • Designing paper airplanes

  • Crafting a solar system snack

Along the way, we learn about thinking big, standing up for yourself and others and thinking outside the box.
