Happy National Opposite Day! We’re celebrating with five great books for kids of all ages…

Yummy Yucky by Leslie Patricelli. Spaghetti is yummy, but worms — and blue crayons, and sand, and other things too gross to mention — are definitely yucky. We love the bright bold graphics and spirited toddler. Recommended for toddlers.

Hero Vs. Villain: A Book of Opposites by T. Nat Fuller. Heroes & villains are complete opposites and sworn enemies, but can they learn to be friends? Recommended for toddlers.

The Huey's in What's the Opposite by Oliver Jeffers. "What's the opposite of the beginning?" Maybe we should start with something a little easier? It's quite unlucky when a Huey finds himself stranded on a hot, deserted island—but very lucky when a fan arrives to provide some cool air! Oh, wait . . . nowhere to plug it in? Unlucky, once again. Now for a harder one: What’s the difference between half full and half empty? Recommended for toddlers.

Opposites by Sandra Boynton. Artist Sandra Boynton works her magic with big & small; high & low; heave & light and others. Look for her signature animal illustrations and bright colors. Recommended or toddlers.

Good News Bad News by Jeff Mack. Good news, Rabbit and Mouse are going on a picnic. Bad news, it is starting to rain. Good news, Rabbit has an umbrella. Bad news, the stormy winds blow the umbrella (and Mouse!) into a tree. Recommended for elementary school readers
